Patna serial blasts: Who said what?

Patna, News Nation Bureau | Updated : 27 October 2013, 06:56 PM

Six serial bomb blasts on Sunday rocked the venue of Narendra Modi's rally in Patna minutes before he arrived there to address the gathering while another crude bomb exploded at the railway station here, leaving at least eight persons injured. Here is look at the reactions from the political leaders.

Patna serial blasts seem to be a pre-planned attack, said Bihar CM Nitsh Kumar.

"The Prime Minister has condemned the blasts in Patna and called for urgent steps to identify and take action against those responsible," a PMO statement said.

“I strongly condemn the serial blasts on occasion of the BJP rally in Patna. This is a gross intelligence failure," tweeted Sushma after the incident.

"Bihar earlier never witnesses this kind of bomb blasts. The incidents expose all his claims of "Susashan" (good governance). What kind of law and order exists in Bihar during Nitish Kumar's role is fully exposed now. He should answer to people to what level he wants to take the state now," Paswan told PTI.

President Pranab Mukherjee condemned the serial blasts in Patna and said the nation must remain firm in its resolve to fight against all forms of terror as violence has no place in a civilised society.

"Blasts in Patna are deeply saddening & unfortunate. Condolences with families of deceased & prayers with injured. I appeal for peace & calm," Modi wrote in his Facebook post.

"Expressing shock and anguish, Gandhi said such subversive and cowardly acts aim at hitting at our democracy and whoever perpetrates such ghastly acts should be brought to justice at the earliest," a Congress release quoted Sonia.
