PM calls Sachin Tendulkar, congratulates him for Bharat Ratna

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday spoke to the legend of cricket Sachin Tendulkar and congratulated him for being chosen for the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country.

According to PMO, PM Manmohan Singh made a phone call to Master Blaster and wished him many more years of contribution to Indian sports.

Tendulkar (40) will join a list of 41 eminent personalities who have been conferred with the award.

Moments after Sachin was chose for the award, another name popped in for the same. Prof Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao will be the third scientist after C V Raman and former President A P J Abdul Kalam to be given the Bharat Ratna.
