It’s official! Boris Johnson is back the at the 10, Downing Street with the United Kingdom handing out ‘Get Brexit Done’ mandate to the Conservative Party in crucial snap elections. The Conservative Party crossed the required 326-mark for majority in British Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first important world leaders who congratulated Johnson for the landslide win. PM Modi took to Twitter to congratulate Boris Johnson. “Many congratulations to PM @BorisJohnson for his return with a thumping majority. I wish him the best and look forward to working together for closer India-UK ties,” PM Modi said on micro-blogging site. He also posted a photo of the two leaders along with the congratulatory tweet.
According to the YouGov.com, Johnson’s Conservative Party won 339 seats with whooping 43 per cent vote share. Apart from PM Modi, Australian premier Scott Morrison also congratulated Johnson on the thumping victory. “Congratulations @BorisJohnson on a resounding victory and being returned as UK PM. Looking forward to the stability this brings and a new deal for Oz with the UK. Say g’day to the quiet Britons for us,” Australian PM said in a tweet. Ivanka Trump was also among those who extended congratulatory message for Johnson.
English football veteran Peter Shilton and terse comment for the detractors. “The British people have got it right again and all the sceptics will eat humble pie!@BorisJohnson will prove a great Prime Minister and l am sure he will bring the country together He needs to end Austerity and help the working class more which l know he will.Well done the Brits,” Shilton said in a tweet.
Maldives’ Mohamed Nasheed also wished Johnson all the best. “Congratulations to PM @BorisJohnson and the Conservatives for a resounding electoral win! When Maldives is finally permitted to rejoin the Commonwealth, I look forward to working closely with Britain to tackle common problems such as climate heating,” he said on Twitter.
