New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the ‘Urja Sangam’ 2015 in New Delhi at Vigyan Bhawan.
Addressing the media, he said, “We need to be independent when it comes to providing our people with energy. Money we save from giving up LPG subsidy is the money we will use for the poor, so that they have access to clean energy too.”
He added, “People who don't need LPG subsidy and are capable to manage without it should give it up. Join this movement, give up gas subsidy and create a record. The subsidy you will give up will benefit the poor.”
Talking about development, he said, “If we want development, we need to be consistent and uniform for every state. In coming years we want 1 crore households to get a supply of gas via pipelines.”
He promised, “2022 will be 75th year of India's independence, need to reach a height by then which justifies the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. Corridors need to be developed between India and Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.”
