Days after guiding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a thumping victory in Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the world's most powerful person of 2019 in the British Herald reader's poll.Â
He will feature on the cover page of July edition of British Herald Magazine which will be released on 15th July 2019.Â
According to the magazine, PM Modi defeated several world leaders like Donald Trump and Xi Jinping to be declared as the winner. The poll, which was conducted by British Herald, closed on Saturday midnight.

PM Modi won with 30.9 per cent of the vote when the poll closed on Saturday at midnight. He was placed well ahead of his closest contenders, including Vlamidir Putin, Donald Trump, and Xi Jinping with 29.9 per cent, 21.9 per cent, and 18.1 per cent respectively.
"Unlike regular voting system, the British Herald readers had to vote through a mandatory one-time password (OTP) process to validate their vote. Surprisingly, while the voting was on, our website crashed as many voters were trying to vote for their preferred leaders, generating about three million hits in a week," a report by British Heral reads.
Modi won a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha polls and became the Prime Minister consecutively for the second time. The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 results are a ringing endorsement of Modi's popularity, his government's achievements in the last five years and his campaign, which centred around national security following the Balakot air strikes, nationalism and Hindutva. He also relentlessly attacked the Congress Party for what he called its dynastic legacy, and blamed it for the country's woes, including endemic corruption.Â
The Modi wave not only swept through the Hindi heartland and Gujarat, as was expected, but also rippled through West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Only Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh appeared untouched. Even in Telangana, where it was expected to fare poorly, the BJP was ahead in four seats, the same as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
