Punjab Police On Alert After Inputs Of Possible Terror Strike, Search Operations Underway

A massive cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab after inputs of a possible terror strike. Over 5,000 personnel are taking part in the search operation and would continue for three days, officials said. The decision was taken after Pakistani drone was spotted by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel over Ferozepur district in Punjab late on Wednesday evening. “The drone was spotted entering India from Pakistan side of the border at 7.55 pm by security officials and later by local individuals,” official sources were quoted as saying by news agency ANI. 12 Cops, Locals Injured In Mob Attack In Assam's Hailakandi District

At least 12 security personnel as well as several villagers were injured when they were attacked by an irate mob as they tried to save four people from lynching at Nitainagar village in Hailakandi district of South Assam on Friday night, police sources said. Hailakandi Sadar police station Officer In-charge (OC) Hemanta Kumar Das and second officer Ashoke Chakraborty of the police station, OC Borat Chandra Kar of Algapur police stations and two jawans of the CRPF were seriously injured when they went to save four people who were being lynched by the mob armed with sticks in Nitainagar village, around 13 kms from Hailakandi town, they said. US Troop Position Came Under Fire From Turkish Incursion In Syria: Pentagon

Amid Turkish offensive in Northern Syria, a Pentagon spokesman on Friday said that US troops near the northern Syrian border came under artillery fire from Turkish positions. The spokesperson warned that US was prepared to meet aggression with “immediate defensive action.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey will not stop its operation against Kurdish militants in northern Syria, dismissing what he called "threats" from other countries. "It doesn't matter what certain people say, we will not stop," Erdogan said in a speech in Istanbul. Read more…
