New Delhi :

The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested three people in connection with the alleged cow slaughter in Bulandshahr and two for inciting violence, but the killers of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh were still at large. On December 3, the mob violence over “cow slaughter” had led to the killing of a Uttar Pradesh police inspector. Singh was fatally shot at a point-blank range above his left eye and the police are yet to capture his killers.

"Three persons - Nadeem, Raees and Kala - who were registered as the main accused after collection of technical evidence, have been arrested. They used to shoot cows with a gun first and then cut them in pieces and divide among themselves," ANI quoted senior police officer Atul Srivastav as saying.

The police claimed that Nadeem, Raees and Kala were part of a gang that used to kill cows with a gun. The weapons – a double barrel gun and knives – used to hunt the cows have also been recovered. The Special Task Force (STF) of UP police also arrested two people – 21-year-old Sachin Singh alias Cobra, and 19-year-old Johnny Chaudhary for instigating the violence.

"Working on a tip-off, the two men, whose identity had been ascertained after the violence, were picked up at 4.15 pm from a bus stand at Gathiya Badshahpur in Bulandshahr," news agency PTI quoted STF member Raj Kumar Mishra as saying.

So far, the police have arrested 19 people, including an army man Jitendra Malik alias Jeetu Fauji, in connection with the case. The police had named 27 people in the FIR while cases were registered against over 50 unidentified persons.
