Mumbai:
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said the state government had cleared the first phase corridor work of the long-pending Pune metro project conceived to ease the increasing traffic problems of the city.
Fadnavis, who held a meeting with various officials in the city on the issue, said sanction to the first phase (the stretch between far-clung Nigdi, and Swargate in the main city) was expected to be accorded within a month’s time.
“The second phase of the Metro project will be cleared after a committee of experts headed by guardian minister Girish Bapat submits a report within a month,” he told reporters.
The Pune metro project, which has been pending clearance for last five years, has attracted criticism with escalated cost now running to about Rs 10,000 crore.
