Lucknow:

After BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s mass rally in Jhansi, Bundelkhand on Wednesday hosted Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's ralli in Hamirpur.

Addressing a rally in Hamirpur, Rahul reached out to the poor people of Bundelkhand.

"If we need to bring change here then we have to work more intensely. We have to connect the world with Bundelkhand. Ask your government to bring Bangalore to Bundelkhand," Gandhi said.

The Congress leader targeted the BJP as well as the state's ruling Samajwadi Party.

"Unless you bring a Congress government in this state, you will not be empowered. The state will not see change," Mr Gandhi said. "The people of Bundelkhand have been shouting for years... their voice reaches Delhi but not Lucknow."

Rahul is also likely to address a rally in Salempur (deoria) on October 30.

Earlier on Monday, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were seen engaging in a public spat over Sardar Patel's legacy as the duo shared stage in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

While Modi said India's "fate and face" would have been different had Sardar Patel been its first prime minister, Singh reminded the Gujarat CM of the 'Iron Man's' "secular outlook".
