In yet another major development within the Congress, party president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appointed senior leader Ahmed Patel as the treasurer of All India Congress Committee to replace 90-year-old Motilal Vora. The Octogenarian will now serve as the general secretary in-charge of administration while Anand Sharma is appointed as Chairman of Congress Foreign Cell. Sharma replaced Karan Singh from the post.
"Ahmed Patel will be the new treasurer of Congress party, he will replace Motilal Vora. Anand Sharma to be Chairman of Congress Foreign Cell," the news agency ANI reported.

The switch of responsibilities within the party is considered as part of Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing move to include young blood in the year-old party.
Earlier in July, the Gandhi scion made some significant changes in the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision making body, and dropped some senior faces from it, which included Digvijaya Singh, Sushikumar Shinde and Janardhan Dwivedi.
