New Delhi:

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is set to meet professors, lecturers, and eminent academicians on Saturday (September 22) to know about the views and opinions ahead of the upcoming 2019 elections. Apparently, Rahul Gandhi will reach out to all sections of society ahead of the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections and ask about the expectations and suggestions from the Congress party.

Reportedly, the Congress president is seeking to know about areas where he and the Congress party need to improve and will chalk out a strong strategy to oust the Narendra Modi-led ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Rahul Gandhi’s meet will be held at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi.

Several leading professors and academicians from across the nation are slated to be present during the event, as per reports.

The dialogue was earlier scheduled to be held on August 18 but was postponed due to the demise of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on August 16.

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi after French President Francois Hollande’s reported comments on the Rafale deal.

“The PM personally negotiated & changed the #Rafale deal behind closed doors. Thanks to Francois Hollande, we now know he personally delivered a deal worth billions of dollars to a bankrupt Anil Ambani,” Gandhi tweeted.

“The PM has betrayed India. He has dishonoured the blood of our soldiers,” the tweet said.

A French media report had earlier quoted former French President Francois Hollande as saying that the Indian government proposed Reliance Defence as the partner for Dassault Aviation in the Rs 58,000 crore Rafale jet fighter deal and France did not have a choice.

“It is reiterated that neither the government nor the French government had any say in the commercial decision,” the report stated.
