New Delhi:

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who has been on a sabbatical for over a fortnight now, has expressed concern over SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s illness and hospitalisation and wished him speedy recovery.

In another message, he also expressed his heartfelt condolences over the death of party leader and Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan whom he hailed as “stalwart” of Congress in Kerala.

On February 23, the day the budget session of Parliament began, Gandhi had set tongues wagging about his future plans as he went on a sabbatical “for a few weeks” following the party’s whitewash in Delhi Assembly elections on top of a string of electoral losses.

Later party spokesman Randip Surjewala had said that the leave is for “two weeks”. The two week period will end by tomorrow.

However, there is no official word on where Rahul is and when he is likely to get back to work.

A party General Secretary remarked today that the appointment five PCC chiefs made last week including that of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana was done after the green signal from the party Vice President.
