Railway minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday announced a new catering service policy which shall separate the functioning of its cooking and food distribution onboard.
The new catering policy announced by Railway minister is based on providing public healthy and hygienic food as it was flooded with complaints against food quality.
According to policy, IRCTC will manage catering service on all mobile units including all new trains. Pantry car contracts awarded by zonal railway is also reassigned to IRCTC.
IRCTC on Monday informed through it's Twitter handle about rates of meal items in Mail and express trains. IRCTC also informed people to insist for bill after availing catering services.
