External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday said PM gave us target to create a platform, five years later, I can state with some confidence that we have delivered to a great measure on those expectations. Addressing the inaugural session of India's flagship global conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, 'Raisina Dialogue', Jaishankar said, “Prime Minister, you gave us a challenge. It was your view that as a rising power, India should not just be participating in global conversations organised by others.”

“You felt strongly that it was important to create our own platforms, organise discourses and shape narratives. 5 years later, I can state with some confidence that we have delivered to a great measure on those expectations”, the foreign minister added.

'Raisina Dialogue', the three-day event, which is being co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), began on Tuesday in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to attend the inaugural session at which seven former heads of state or government will share their views on important challenges facing the world.

This year, the theme of the event is ‘21@20: Navigating the Alpha Century’, and it will see over 180 delegates from 105 countries including many deputy foreign ministers, former prime ministers, former presidents, national security advisors, military chiefs and other high level policy-makers, scholars and officials will participate in the event, a statement by the ORF said.
