New Delhi:

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law and businessman Robert Vadra took to Facebook on Saturday morning to talk about the 'relentless harassment' he faced at the hands of the Enforcement Directorate. This post comes a day after the investigating agency attached the assets worth Rs 4.62 crore of Robert Vadra’s company M/s Sky Light Hospitality (P) Ltd, (now LLP), and others in connection with the Bikaner land scam case.

Titled "Relentless harassment !!", this is what Vadra posted on his Facebook wall: "I have had nothing to hide and I am surely not above the law. I have deposed for almost 6 days; ranging from 8 to 12 hours per day with a 40 minute lunch break, n have been escorted to the washroom. I have completely cooperated and adhered to the rules whenever I was called in any part of the country.
Attachment of my work place- my office n areas that are subjudiced, shows a complete misuse of assertion of power, a complete vindictive & vicious witch hunt.
When truth sustains n prevails, I suppose an apology is all that will suffice.
Will stay determined for justice for me. (sic)"

The ED had registered a criminal case in connection with the deal in 2015, taking cognisance of a clutch of FIRs and charge sheets filed by Rajasthan Police after the tehsildar of Bikaner complained about alleged forgery in the allotment of land in the area, considered sensitive due to its proximity to the India-Pakistan border.

On February 12, Vadra, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law, and his mother Maureen had appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Jaipur. Congress general secretary and Vadra's wife Priyanka Gandhi had accompanied them to the probe agency's office.

Last week, the ED had quizzed Vadra in Delhi for three days in connection with a money laundering probe against him for allegedly procuring assets abroad in an illegal manner. The Rajasthan High Court had asked Vadra and his mother to cooperate with the agency after they approached it seeking directions that no coercive action is taken against them by the agency.

In the Bikaner land case, the agency had summoned Vadra thrice but he failed to appear and later approached the court.

On February 12, too, hours before the Enforcement Directorate’s grilling in connection with the Bikaner land scam, Vadra slammed the ‘this vindictive government’ for ‘harassing’ his mother. In a long Facebook post, Vadra questioned the timing of the probe and intent behind summoning his mother. He also wrote about his family’s personal tragedy and how his mother suffered harrowing time. “So here we are my 75 year old mother n me in Jaipur to depose in front of the Enforcement Directorate. Not understanding the lows of this vindictive government to be harassing a senior citizen, who the world knows has lost her daughter in a car crash, her ailing son to diabetes, and her husband as well,” Vadra wrote on his Facebook wall.
