New Delhi:

A book written by BJP leader Jay Bhagwan Goyal, which compares Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has sparked a row in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has now sought clarification from the warrior king's descendants on whether they like the prime minister likened to him. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress have criticised the book, terming it an insult to the great king. "Chhatrapati Shivaji's descendants should clarify if they like Modi being compared to him. Chhatrapati Shivaji's descendants should quit BJP over the book," Raut said targeting BJP's Rajya Sabha member Sambhaji Raje, who is a descendant of the warrior king.

Sambhaji Raje on Sunday demanded that BJP chief Amit Shah immediately ban the book titled "Aaj ke Shivaji: Narendra Modi", which was published in the BJP's Delhi office.

Complaint Against Bjp Leader On Book

A Maharashtra Congress spokesperson on Sunday lodged a complaint with Nagpur Police against Delhi BJP leader Jay Bhagwan Goyal for allegedly hurting the sentiments of people by comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his book. In the complaint filed by Congress spokesman Atul Londhe, he said by comparing Modi to Shivaji Maharaj the writer has insulted the warrior king.

“Delhi BJP leader Jay Bhagwan Goyal has penned the book titled “Aaj ke Shivaji- Narendra Modi”. He unveiled the book at BJP office and also tweeted about it,” he said.

“The book compares PM Narendra Modi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who is adored by crores of people. Comparing Modi or anyone else to Shivaji Maharaj hurts our feelings. By doing so, the book has disrespected Chhatrapati Shivaji and his works,” Londhe said in the complaint.

In his complaint, the Congress leader sought action against Goyal, the publisher of the book and its distributor.
