J Jayalalithaa called out for help but refused to be taken to the hospital, reveals her close aide VK Sasikala’s 55-page 99-paragraph affidavit filed on March 12.
Sasikala filed the affidavit before the Justice A Arumughaswamy Commission and provides complete information of what actually happened on September 22, 2016, in the Poes Garden residence of the late AIADMK leader.
Sasikala says that Jayalalithaa had already dropped hints that she was unwell but refused to go the hospital for a check-up. Later that day, at around 9:30 pm, she fell unconscious in the washroom of her first-floor room at her residence in Chennai.
After the late AIADMK leader passed out, Sasikala called the Apollo hospital and urged to send an ambulance, a doctor and a stretcher. Sasikala said that Jayalalithaa gained consciousness in the ambulance and asked where she was being taken.
The affidavit was submitted to the Commission on March 12, 2018, after the prior had asked to inquire about the circumstances of the late AIADMK leader’s death amidst all questions about her health and treatment.
Sasikala, in her affidavit, claimed that Jayalalithaa’s health was deteriorating because of the severe stress caused to her due to her conviction and imprisonment in the disproportionate assets case in September 2014.
The party’s leaders, including O Panneerselvam and M Thambidurai, had said that they were not allowed to meet Jayalalithaa in the three months of time when she was admitted to the hospital. To this allegation by Panneerselvam and Thambidurai, Sasikala claimed that they were allowed to meet her. In fact, two security officers were also allowed to meet and speak to the late AIADMK leader.

Panneerselvam had told the press at that time, “We didn't go (to her room) out of good intention that she should not contract infection. We wanted her to return to good health... they (Sasikala) would come out and tell Amma is doing well, eating. We could only say okay...thank you.. We were in grief that Amma was ill.”
Sasikala had given the Commission a list of 20 different doctors from Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata, who had earlier treated Jayalalithaa.
After the death of Jayalalithaa in December 2016, Panneerselvam had alleged that he was forced to make a way for Sasikala for elevating her to the top post of the state. Panneerselvam demanded investigation against the ‘conspiracy’ behind the late AIADMK’s death involving Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran.
