New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Thursday asked Kolkata-based AMRI Hospital to pay Rs 5.96 crore compensation in a case of medical negligence in 1998.
Anuradha Saha died under admission in Calcutta's AMRI hospital. Later, the family claimed medical negligence and filed a court case.
In 2009, SC found AMRI hospital guilty of medical negligence and reffered the case to National Consumer Court which fixed the compensation amount to 1.7 crores.
But, Anuradha's husband Kunal claimed the amount along with interest since 1998 shud be 200 crores and moved the apex court.
Finally, on Thursday the Supreme Court decided on his plea and enhanced compensation to 5.96 crores.
