New Delhi:

A day after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday met Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence. Scindia, who had been in the Congress party for 18 years, joined the saffron league on Wednesday. Hours after joining the party he was named him as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh. The development was confirmed by former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who congratulated him on Twitter.

Scindia is listed to reach Bhopal at 3 PM today and embrace a roadshow from the airport to the state BJP headquarters where preparations are on to welcome him.

Meanwhile, political instability continues to emerge from Madhya Pradesh where Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP has plunged the state into chaos.  The Kamal Nath government is on the brink of collapse as 22 Congress MLAs resigned from the Assembly.

Soon after joining the BJP, Scindia had said, “There have been 2 life changing events for me – September 30, 2001- the day I lost my father and the second, March 10, 2020 - when I decided to choose a new path for my life,” Scindia said soon after joining the party.

Taking a dig at Congress party, Scindia said, "I can say with confidence that the aim of public service is not being fulfilled by that party (Congress). Besides this, the present condition of the party indicates that it is not what it used to be."

Reacting to Scindia’s resignation, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said, "He is the only chap in Congress who could walk into my house anytime." He also retweeted a picture dated December 13, 2018 in which he is flanked by Scinidia and Kamal Nath.
