After forming government in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena is eyeing at other states including Goa. Notably, Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday said that the party will be forming an alliance with Vijay Sardesai’s Goa Forward Party (GFP). It is to be noted that Vijay Sardesai became the deputy chief minister of Goa under Manohar Parrikar-led state government in 2017. However, he was outed from the cabinet in July last year with party colleagues Vinod Palyekar and Jayesh Salgaonkar by CM Pramod Sawant after BJP gained majority in the House due to the cross over of 10 Congress legislators.

While interacting with the news agency ANI, Sanjay Raut said, “Goa Forward Party president and former deputy chief minister of Goa, Vijai Sardesai along with 3 MLAs, is forming an alliance with Shiv Sena. A new political front is taking shape in Goa, just like it happened in Maharashtra. Soon you will see magic in Goa as well.”

Sanjay Raut’s reply came after being asked about court issuing summons to ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis in connection with the case where he is accused of concealing info about 2 criminal cases, in election affidavit. He said, “We are busy in Goa politics, Maharashtra politics is over.”

“It will happen across the country. After Maharashtra it is Goa, then we will go to other states. We want to make a non-BJP political front in this country,” the Rajya Sabha leader added.

Earlier, in the day, Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana shed light on the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uddhav Thackeray. "Even though there are problems for Shiv Sena and BJP in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray and Modi ji are like brothers for each other," Saamana said.

On Thursday, soon after Uddhav Thackeray was sworn-in as the Maharashtra CM, Raut took a jibe at Devendra Fadnavis for being elected as leader of the opposition party in the state. The Sena leader tweeted “Heartiest congratulations to former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who claimed that there will be no opposition in Maharashtra, on being elected as the opposition party leader.”
