Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday blamed the present Congress government for the looming crisis at various sectors across the state. In a veiled attack at Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the senior BJP leader questioned the state government's decision to announce "only" Rs 50,000 assistance to the victims of a medical apathy took place at a hospital in Indore. In a tragic incident, as many as 11 people have lost their eyesight after being operated at the Indore Eye Hospital early in the week.

Taking to Twitter Chouhan asked, "Is Kamal Nath government's Rs 50,000 aid really helping those 11 people in Indore whose life has become a hell due to negligence of doctors? Think about the mental condition of the persons who have become the victim of this irresponsible attitude".

"The Indore CMHO kept this matter hidden from top officials for five days. Apart from hospital management, there is also major carelessness in the part of administration. The state government is requested to provide proper help and a pension of Rs 12,000 per month to those victims so that they can live their life peacefully," Chouhan wrote in another tweet in Hindi.

On the prevailing situation in the state, the BJP leader said, "Be it common man, journalist or police - everyone is scared. Criminals are roaming around safely. In Indore, a journalist was robbed at knifepoint. There has been chaos all around. The criminals are not afraid of law and order at all. Kamal Nath ji, my Madhya Pradesh was never like this, you have destroyed the state".

Kamal Nath, the 72-year-old Congress veteran took over as the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister in December 2018, after the Congress, in a see-saw battle with the BJP, emerged as the single largest party, winning 114 of the total 230 seats in state Assembly polls.

With this the BJP was ousted after a record 15-year-long rule since 2003 in the state. While Uma Bharti and Babulal Gaur served as the Madhya Pradesh chief ministers for the first two years, Chouhan was appointed for the top post in 2005.
