Single NEET-like examination for entrance to engineering architecture colleges from 2018-19

Single entrance exam for engineering and architecture at the undergraduate level from 2018 has been aproved by Centre, on the basis of national eligibility and entrance test  for medical colleges.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has been asked to issue a "suitable regulation" for the implementation of the proposal from the academic year 2018-19 by the Union human resource development ministry.

This single entrance exam will be held multiple times in a year as it is related to academics and bring transparency and maintain standards and reduce the donation.

Earlier it was announced that aspirants can appear for The National-Eligibility-cum-Entrance-Test (NEET) for only three times, as new criteria for NEET exam has been introduced. Also, aspirants age limit has been set in order to appear for the examination. The minimum age to appear for NEET is 17 years, the maximum age for open category students is 25 years and 30 years for the reserved category.On the other hand, the Age limit for the reserved category has been set to 30 years and ST, SC can also appear for the exam for only three times.

This has been introduced in the examination criteria to bring down the number of older candidates competing with young aspirants.
