Sir David Attenborough is the younger brother of the director, producer and actor Richard Attenborough who made the film Gandhi.

Sir David Attenborough, the enowned broadcaster and naturalist, has been awarded Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for the year 2019. The award was announced on the 102nd birth anniversary of India's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.  

Attenborough is an English broadcaster and natural historian who is known for his documentaries on animal and plant life on Earth. In 2002, he was named among the 100 Greatest Britons following a UK-wide poll for the BBC. He is the younger brother of the director, producer and actor Richard Attenborough who directed the film Gandhi.

Attenborough's contribution to broadcasting and wildlife film-making has brought him international recognition. He has been called "the great communicator, the peerless educator" and "the greatest broadcaster of our time." At least 20 species and genera, both living and extinct, have been named in Attenborough's honour.
