Sonia gandhi, Congress leaders extend support to Manmohan Singh, march to his residence

Expressing solidarity with Manmohan Singh for being summoned as accused in coal scam, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday led out a march from the AICC headquarters to the residence of former prime minister to show her support.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the march, Sonia said, “Manmohan is the person of integrity. We are here to offer our unstinted support and solidarity. We are fully behind him. Congress party will not bend and we are sure Manmohan Singh will be proven innocent.”

“We are outraged at the news of summons being served to Dr. Manmohan Singh. He is known not only in this country but also all over the world as a person of integrity and probity. We shall fight this legally and with all our means at our command, we are convinced that he will be vindicated,” Sonia said.

Ahead of the march, Gandhi, CWC members and other party bearers met at 24 Akbar Road in morning and decided to march till Manmohan Singh's residence on 3 Motilal Nehru Marg.

Manmohan Singh had on Wednesday expressed confidence that he will come out clean in the coal scam.
