Stay on Jadhav’s death sentence ‘major achievement’ for India: Rijiju

New Delhi:

Reacting on the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) stay on the execution of Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said the stay order is a “major achievement” for India.

Last year, Pakistan arrested Kulbhushan Jadhav, a retired Indian naval officer, on alleged charges of ‘spying’. He was later sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court.

“The stay on Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav’s hanging in Pakistan is a major achievement for the Government of India,” the told reporters on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi.

However, Rijiju didn’t give much information on centre’s next move in Jadhav’s case and said “the matter is being handled by the ministry of external affairs and not the home ministry.”
