New Delhi :

The Supreme Court will take up a case related to EVMs tampering on March 24 after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed on Tuesday in the apex court.

The PIL was filed by advocate ML Sharma who stated in his plea that there are shortcomings in the EVMs and it is not possible to conduct a fair election.

BSP leader Mayawati on Tuesday dared BJP to hold assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh using paper ballots if it was confident of the people's mandate and demanded a law to scrap the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections.

Raising the issue in Rajya Sabha, she said the results of the just-concluded assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand were "not a verdict of people but a verdict of EVMs."

Earlier, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati had questioned the EVMs and demanded a probe into EVMs tampering. She alleged that BJP had sabotaged the entire election process. Mayawati had also said that she will approach the court for the same.
