Hours after Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agarwal joined BJP, Minister of External Affair (MEA) Sushma Swaraj on Monday welcomed the former Samajwadi Party general secretary for joining the saffron party but criticised him for his comments on Jaya Bachchan.
The external minister on her verified Twitter handle tweeted, “Shri Naresh Agarwal has joined Bhartiya Janata Party. He is welcome. However, his comments regarding Jaya Bachhan ji are improper and unacceptable.”
Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agarwal on Monday had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after he was ignored a ticket to the upper-house of the parliament by Samajwadi Party.
Agarwal during a press conference had said, “My ticket was denied for a person who dances in films. That is even more painful. I will vote for BJP in Rajya Sabha and I thank PM Modi for showing faith on me.”

The seven-time MLA from Hardoi constituency announced that he was joining the saffron party in presence of Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. Agarwal’s son Nitin Agarwal, who is current MLA from Hardoi also joined the BJP.
“I am joining the BJP as I think you cannot do anything good for the soicety unless you are in a national party. I am impressed by PM Modi, BJP president Amit Shah. I respect Mulayam Singh Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav, but the current scenario in SP is very sad.”
