Operations at Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport were suspended after a suspected bomb threat was reported at the airport area on Wednesday.

Authorities raised the alarm after an unidentified briefcase was found in the airport's parking area. The bomb disposal squad was dispatched to the airport after an unidentified briefcase was found in parking area of Amritsar Airport.

A bomb disposal squad had been called in to examine the briefcase and neutralise it in case of an actual threat.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Pathankot airbase on Tuesday was put on high alert as they intelligence agencies had given inputs of the presence of suspicious men in the vicinity. The whole area was then searched thoroughly with the joint effort of Army, Punjab police, the Air Force and the Himachal Pradesh police.
