New Delhi:

Tourists won’t be able to see the dome of Taj Mahal for about an year as the Archaeological Survey of India has decided to apply the mud pack on its dome.

The rapid yellowing of the white marble prompted the ASI to apply the pack for over an year which is also likely to badly hit the tourism industry.

But the tourism officials do not consider it to be the right time for the mud pack therapy. Since it is the peak tourism season and it could badly hit the tourism industry as Taj Mahal is one of the picturesque monuments in India.

While this is not for the first time when scaffolding will be erected, earlier it was in 1940-1941, when it was kept on its dome for the protection and conservation of Taj Mahal.

The yellowing of the monument is burgeoning with time due to dust and rust forming on its surface. Cleaning process of the whole of Taj Mahal is already underway, therefore ASI thinks it to be the appropriate time to apply the mud pack on its dome.
