Tamil Nadu farmers have called off their protest after state government assured them that their demands will be met within 2 moths. As per reports, farmers will renew their protests if demands are not met.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu farmers had resumed their agitation in Chennai on Friday while protesting the state government’s failure to fulfil its promises.

Farmers numbering up to 200 began an indefinite protest at Chepauk while asking for drought relief package, loan waiver, formation of a Cauvery Management Board to resolve their irrigation issues and pension for aged farmers.

They had also expressed condolence to six farmers who were killed in police firing in Madhya Pradesh apart from displaying solidarity with their brethren.

The farmers had earlier even protested at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, seeking loan waivers, drought relief packages.Adorned with human skulls around their necks, they had tried to catch the attention of authorities towards their plight. They had tried various bizarre methods of protest during their 41-day long stay in the national capital.
