President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday announced appointments of new governors for five states across the country. Tamil Nadu BJP chief, Tamilisai Soundararajan, a doctor by profession, has been made the new Governor of Telangana. She replaced ESL Narasimhan in the South Indian state. Known as the ‘Sushma of Tamil Nadu’ among party cadres in the state, Tamilisai is famous for her oratory and translation skills.
"I would like to thank god and the ruler of the country. That BJP recognises hard work and it has been proven once again by our Prime Minister Modi and party President Amit Shah. And this is proven by the 43 lakh members who have joined the party in Tamil Nadu recently. Irrespective of my age, the leadership has given me this opportunity and I dedicate this success to everyone in the party, all party members, the people of Tamil Nadu and my parents," News Minute quoted Tamilisai as saying after her appointment.
Along with Tamilisai, former Cabinet minister Arif Mohammad Khan has replaced P Sathasivam as the Governor in Kerala. Kalraj Mishra, who was serving as the Governor in Himachal Pradesh, has been transferred to Rajasthan, where he replaced former Governor Kalyan Singh. Former Lok Sabha member Bandaru Dattatreya, on the other hand, replaced Mishra in Himachal. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, a RSS veteran, has been picked for the post of Maharashtra Governor, shunting out Vidyasagar Rao.
