Muneer, the main accused in the murder case of National Investigative Agency (NIA) officer Tanzeel Ahmed, was on Tuesday arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF). A former student Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), 35-year-old Muneer was wanted in two other murder cases.
The Aligarh Police and STF had nabbed Muneer’s close associate Atiullah Khan in a joint operation earlier on June 16. On April 13, Farzana Ahmed, the wife of Tanzil Ahmed passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
Farzana was battling for her life at AIIMS trauma centre after suffering bullet wounds and succumbed to her injuries. Two men in a bike had attacked Tanzil Ahmed, his wife Farzana and two children when they were traveling in a car. The family was coming back to Delhi from a family wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district.
The attackers stopped their car and shot Ahmed 16 times. Ahmed told his children aged 14 and 11 to duck when the shots were fired. On April 12, The Uttar Pradesh Police had arrested two persons in connection with the murder and said domestic dispute was the reason behind the crime.
