New Delhi:

Airports across north India have been placed on high alert after security agencies received reports of four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists entering Delhi, according to reports. The security agencies have got a category-A intelligence input that these terrorists are planning to strike during the festival season.

All four terrorists are said to be heavily armed. The alert led to searches across Delhi, especially in its more crowded neighbourhoods.

Delhi Police sounded a red alert amd conducted raids at several locations in the city on late Wednesday night after receiving inputs on possible terror attacks. According to a report in the Times of India, the raids were carried out at nine locations in the city and at least two suspects were detained for questioning. Raids were conducted in Seelampur, Jamia Nagar and Paharganj areas.

According to NDTV, the threat was discussed at a meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home this morning.

Security agencies have received inputs in recent weeks about attacks in retaliation against the government's decision to revoke provisions of Article 370 ending special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, intelligence agencies had issued warning against a module of 8 to 10 terrorists which will possibly try to carry out a suicide attack against Air Force bases and airports in and around Jammu and Kashmir. The reports also said, a special squad of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists are planning to carry out attacks targetting PM Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
