The girl never complained, even loved working with US: Congress on ‘sexual harassment’ allegations

New Delhi:

The Congress on Tuesday dismissed the allegations of “sexual harassment” against one of the party’s social media worker by a former employee and said that they have not received any complaint related to the issue.

In a statement released on her twitter handle, Congress party’s social media in charge Divya Spandana said that the former worker who had reportedly alleged “sexual harassment” gave personal and health reasons for quitting the job and claimed that she had written “I loved working here” in her feedback form.

“The complaint committee does not have any complaint written/verbal/official/unofficial from the ex-worker,” Spandana said in her statement.

The Congress social media head said that they were informed by a reporter, who claimed that the girl had filed a written complaint against one of their workers and reached out to the girl to seek more details about the matter.

“We do not have the access to the complaint. We were informed by a reporter who said that ‘immoral behaviour’ and ‘intrusion of privacy’ were the terms used in the complaint. We have now reached out to the ex-worker and are awaiting her response,” she said.

Meanwhile, the BJP took the matter to score political points against the Congress and demanded registration of an FIR against the accused.

BJP leader and parliamentarian from Delhi, Meenakshi Lekhi claimed that accused was under the direct supervision of Spandana.

"A former social media team member of Congress party has filed a complaint against a co-worker who works under direct supervision of @divyaspandana, social media in-charge of Congress party. We appeal to Delhi Police to register an FIR and also ensure the safety of the girl," Lekhi said in a tweet.
