Two mild tremors felt in Delhi-NCR region within an hour; Epicenter was national capital

New Delhi:

Two moderate intensity earthquakes on Monday night jolted Delhi and National Capital Region, while tremors were also felt in other parts of North India.

Both the quakes were witnessed within a period of one hour. The first quake measuring 3.1 on Richter scale hit the national capital at 12.45 am while the second tremor was witnessed at 1.40 am.

The tremors reportedly lasted a few seconds and the epicenter of the quake was the national capital.

"The earthquake measuring 3.1 at the Richter scale hit after 12.45 a.m (local time) here. The epicentre of the earthquake feels to be in the national capital territory. However, we are still analysing the data," the IMD official told agencies.

No report of any casualty or injury has been reported from anywhere so far, the officials said.
