The Police horse Shaktimaan which was injured during a BJP protest in Dehradun today passed away. Shaktimaan had lost its one leg that was mangled after repeated blows with stick. Later an emergency amputation was also carried out to avoid any chances of developing gangrene from the wound. Ganesh Joshi, a legislator Uttarakhand, was arrested in the case for allegedly beating Shaktimaan up.

However, he was released on bail and has denied the charges. To reduce weight on the amputated limb a special shoe called an ice boot was also brought in from US for Shaktimaan.

The 13-year-old was given a prosthetic leg and was confined to the police lines. It was a well trained horse and part of Uttarakhand Mounted Police for years.

"The horse passed away at 5.30 PM. He was suffering from medical-related complications. The exact cause of his death remains unknown, it will only be ascertained once autopsy is conducted.

The horse had soon become the center of attention after its assault news. A team of vets was also sent for its best treatment and police force also spared no expense for its treatment. But it was sooner known that the horse will never be able to resume official police duties as before.
