War of words will intensify in the election year

New Delhi:

Days after the interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP workers went viral, there are reports that the ruling party will now vet the question of all party men before such a meeting. Citing the report, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed the Prime Minister and said that, “forget a press conference he (PM Modi) can’t even string together a polling booth worker’s conference.” Taking a dig at the PM, Gandhi said that, “Vanakam Puducherry! That’s NoMo’s answer to the struggling middle class.  Forget a press conference he can’t even string together a polling booth worker’s conference. BJP-vetted questions is a superb idea. Consider vetted answers as well.”

On Monday, Times of India had reported that the BJP will now filter all questions before any interaction. "We are double checking the process to avoid questions like the one raised by a functionary, Nirmal Kumar Jain, from Puducherry," a BJP source was quoted as saying by Times of India. In the viral clip, jain had asked PM Modi, ‘'Middle class is of the opinion that your govt is only busy collecting tax. They did not get the relaxation they were hoping for in IT sector, loan processing procedure and bank transaction fees and penalty.' The Prime Minister had responded: "Thank you, Nirmal ji. You are a trader, so it’s normal that you will talk business ... Chaliye Puducherry ko Wanakkam."

Gandhi has been attacking the Prime Minister over various issues. Recently, after 22 accused in gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case were acquitted by a Special CBI court, the Congress president Rahul Gandhi said "no one killed him" and he "just died". All 22 accused in the alleged fake encounter killings of gangster Sohrabuddin Shaikh, his wife Kausar Bi and his aide Tulsi Prajapati were acquitted Friday by a special CBI court because of insufficient evidence, even as it expressed sorrow over the loss of "three lives."

He also highlighted the deaths of others like Haren Pandya, Kauser Bi and Justice Loya, saying "they just died". "NO ONE KILLED... Haren Pandya. Tulsiram Prajapati. Justice Loya. Prakash Thombre. Shrikant Khandalkar. Kauser Bi. Sohrabuddin Shiekh. THEY JUST DIED,? Gandhi had said on Twitter.

As the Congress chief sought to question the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case judgment, he was trolled by many on the Twitter.

While Gandhi's tweet received over 20,000 likes, he was also trolled by a few thousand, who took a dig at him highlighting the killings of Sikhs in Delhi in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Kashmiri pundits, saying "no one killed them" and "they just died". The trolls also made a mention of the death of some Congress leaders in the past, besides farmers and Tamils, among others.
