New Delhi:

In a message that shows India’s robust defence policy, Army Chief General Bipin on Tuesday said that India will win the next war totally based on indigenous capabilities. Speaking at the 41st DRDO Directors Conference in New Delhi, Rawat said that, ‘DRDO has made strides in ensuring that requirements of the services are met through home-grown solutions. We are confident that we will fight and win the next war through indigenised weapons systems and equipment.’ He also said that, ‘We are looking at systems for future warfare. We have to start looking at development of cyber, space, laser, electronic and robotic technologies and artificial intelligence.’

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also attended the event. Stating the need of advanced capabilities for defence forces, Doval said that, ‘Armies that were better equipped always called the shots and decided the destiny of mankind. They were always the one which had higher technologies. India's own historical experience on this has been sad, we were the runner-up. There is no trophy for the runner up.’

He further said that, ‘Either you're better than your adversaries or you're not there at all. In modern world, technology and money are 2 things which will influence geopolitics. Who'll win, will depend upon who has preponderance over their adversaries on these 2. Of the 2,technology is more important.’

‘Niche technologies are something that make India more security. It has to be need based. We along with our defence services and intelligence agencies have to make a hard assessment that what are our needs which will give us an edge over our adversaries,’ Doval added.

Meanwhile, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on Friday said that terrorists in Kashmir are facing a shortage of arms which is why they try to snatch or loot weapons from SPOs and police stations. Singh said that Pakistan is in a fix over the situation and trying hard to find different ways to supply weapons to terrorists. "Terrorists are facing a shortage of weapons in Kashmir. So they try to snatch weapons from Special Police Officers (SPO) or loot them from police stations," news agency quoted the Army commander as saying.
