New Delhi:

Yogesh Chander Modi on Monday appointed as the Director General of National Investigation Agency. He is senior IPS officer and was also a part of a Supreme Court-appointed team that probed the 2002 Gujarat riots cases.

Yogesh Chander Modi succeeded Sharad Kumar as Director General of National Investigation Agency. Sharad Kumar was a 1979 batch IPS officer of Haryana Cadre. He completed his tenure.

Modi is a 1984 batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

According to an order from the Department of Personnel and Training, Modi will hold the post till his superannuation on May 31, 2021. Modi was named as NIA head on September 18.
