Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday took a dig at BJP saying dared the government to take action against Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. "Did you manage to catch anybody in 2G and coal allocation scam? Did you manage to send Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi behind the bars? You came to power by calling them thieves, then how are they sitting in the parliament,"news agency ANI quoted Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury as saying.

Speaking in the parliament Adhir Ranjan targeted Pratap Singh Sarangi for saying that not much was done before the Modi government came to power. "I also respect Narendra Modi for being the prime minister of the country," said Chowdhury but Sarangi and other went on to worship him. Chowdhury said that 19 out of 27 schemes launched by the Congress-led UPA government were merely renamed by the BJP-led NDA government during its first five year tenure. He called the act as ‘political plagiarism’.

"I want to remind them that it was Congress that brought about the developments like Green Revolution and White Revolution,” he said.

Five-time Congress MP from West Bengal, known to be more of a grassroots leader is taking on the BJP in Parliament. He had also served as the President of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee from 2014 to 2018.

Previously, Mallikarjun Kharge was the leader of the Congress party in the 16th Lok Sabha. However, he lost his seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
