It was like any other day for Zomato agent Faiyaz. Little did he know that a simple food delivery order would create such a controversy and people will be talking about him. But the 15 minutes of Twitter ‘fame’ has left Faiyaz in deep agony. After all, he was at the centre of the online row, in which a Hindu customer apparently cancelled his order because it was delivered by Faiyaz. Zomato, however, stood by its agent and the class reply went viral on Wednesday. Speaking about his experience, Faiyaz said that he was ‘hurt’.
"Han hurt to hue hai. Ab kya bolenge sir, ab log jaisa bolenge..sahi hai is par kya kar sakte hai gareeb log hai... sahna padega sir (Yes I feel hurt. What can I say sir, whatever people say...its okay what I can do in it... we are poor, we have suffer)," he was quoted as saying by PTI. He had called customer Amit Shukla to know the location of his address when Shukla said that he doesn’t want the order.
Even as the netizens were hailing Zomato’s brilliant reply, the customer who cancelled the order remained unfazed. Amit Shukla, who had tweeted to Zomato saying that he had cancelled the order as it was delivered by a non-Hindu said that, “Do my freedom of expression and religion not fall under the idea of India?". He also tried to justify his action by saying, “At present, the pious month of Shravan is going on and it is a matter of my personal choice."

Zomato remained among the top trends on India Twitter for entire Wednesday. Even its professional competitor Uber Eats India also lauded its response. “@ZomatoIN, we stand by you,” Uber Eats India tweeted while quoted Zomato’s reply. Shukla has deleted his tweet that sparked the Twitter feud. Zomato’s reply, “Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion,” has been retweeted 25.6K times and garnered 78.2 K likes.
