IPL 2018: England's Tom Curran replaces Mitchell Starc at Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday has selected England’s Tom Curran as Mitchell Starc’s replacement for the Indian Premier League 2018.

Starc had suffered as ‘tibial bone stress in his right leg’ during Australia vs South Africa’s third Test match.

Tom Curran has been roped in for his base price of Rs 1 crore compared to Starc’s Rs 9.4 crore. This is the third consecutive IPL season which will be missed by the Aussie.

“I’m thrilled and excited to be joining Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL. I know from chatting to other players I can learn a lot from being in that environment, skills that I hope will benefit Surrey and my chances of representing England again this year and if selected, for next year’s World Cup,” Curran said as per Surrey cricket club’s press release.

The-23-year-old has played 6 T20 Internationals so far and has claimed 7 wickets. He represented Surrey in Natwest T20 Blast and has notched up 50 wickets in 53 matches.

Curran, with the ability to clock 145-150 kmph comes in as a straight replacement for Starc.

Dinesh Karthik led KKR will play Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday (April 8) in their first match of IPL 2018.
