New Delhi:

Rohit Sharma’s life in December 2018 changed when he became a father and announced the birth of his daughter Samaira during the Test series in Australia in December 2018. Recently, a video emerged on Rohit’s Twitter handle where he is dubsmashing a popular rap from Ranveer Singh’s hit film Gully Boy. The song, titled ‘Asli Hip Hop’ is being played in the background and Rohit is singing to his daughter who is watching keenly and breaks out into a little jig. The video, which is a minute long, is titled, “We all have a little bit of gully in all of us.” The video has been retweeted 12,000 times and liked 126,000 times with views near 738,000.

The video has been liked by both Ranveer Singh and Amitabh Bachchan, with Bachchan calling it too cute. Gully Boy is a 2019 musical drama film, starring Raneev Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy, the film is a coming-of-age story about an aspiring street rapper from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai. It is the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019, and the year's highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas.

Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians did not get off to a great start in the 2019 Indian Premier League campaign as they suffered a 37-run loss to Delhi Capitals in their opening game at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday. Rishabh Pant’s blazing 78 off 27 balls helped Delhi Capitals smash 99 runs in the final six overs as they reached 213/6. In response, Mumbai Indians were undone by some poor batting and disciplined bowling from Delhi Capitals as they lost for the third consecutive time against the Delhi franchise. Yuvraj Singh was the lone bright spot when he smashed a fifty on his debut for the franchise. His 53 off 35 balls included five fours and three sixes.

Mumbai Indians will now take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on March 28 while Delhi Capitals will take on Chennai Super Kings at the Feroz Shah Kotla on March 26.
