Queen Elizabeth doesn’t bend when it comes to rules. Just weeks after the royal household laid down strict social media guidelines for users, the Queen has said ‘no’ to the one request of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. According to a new report from The Sunday Times, the 92-year-old monarch has vetoed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's request for their own independent court.
"They wanted their household to be entirely independent of Buckingham Palace, but were told 'no,'". "There is an institutional structure that doesn't allow that kind of independence. The feeling is that it's good to have the Sussexes under the jurisdiction of Buckingham Palace, so they can't just go off and do their own thing’’ the report said.
The report adds that Harry and Meghan were seeking approval to operate out of the Queen’s jurisdiction, which both the Queen and Prince Charles didn't think that was a good idea. This ‘request’ was reported to detail the couple's alleged desire to create an international "Sussex brand" of philanthropy and humanitarianism, with Meghan in particular wanting to grow her own role as a humanitarian.
The Kensington Palace is yet to reply to any of this matter.
