Surat is well known for its food as we all proudly say - સુરતનુ જમણ અને કશીનુ મરણ... You know you're a Surti when you eagerly await the traditional festival of #ChandiPadvo and relish the local sweet #Ghari which is made with pure ghee. . Originally, all the ladies in the neighborhood would gather and make this delicacy at home. But nowadays, people generally prefer to order in bulk at local sweet shops. Ghari is available in different flavors like Mawa Ghari, Pista Badam Ghari, Kesar Badam Pista Ghari, Swiss Chocolate Ghari, and many more. . The history of Ghari and Chandi Padwo dates back to the era of Tatya Tope when he came to Surat for refuge and he was served this sweet. Having loved this filling and healthy sweet, he requested the sweetmaker to offer Ghari to his army. In the evening, Tope's entire army was relishing on this delicacy and hence started the tradition of having this delicacy in large gatherings. . How do you celebrate Chandi Padwo? . #Surat #Surati #Bhusu #Ghari #ChandiPadwo #SharadPoonam #SuratFoodies #SurtiFood #SuratFood
