There’s no Indian festival without a lavish traditional spread and so is Holi. The festive affair of visiting old friends, smearing them with colours rain dance on Bollywood numbers is incomplete if you don’t have your tummy full with gujiyas, thandai and chat.  Nevertheless, Holi snacks are hassle free while preparing, stays for a long time and yet are tempting to let you put on those extra calories without feeling guilty.  Nevertheless the health freak India wants even festivals to be good to the body and healthy yet tasty snacks are taking the place of sugar coated deep fried delicacies.

Here are some healthy Holi snack ideas that you can dish out in few minutes without going back to gym the next day.

Oats Idli

 

Holi breakfast needs to be short and simple. The best way is to replace rice flour with rolled oats and made high-fibre idlis that will keep you full for a longer time. To make it extra tangy toss it in a spicy sauce and masala.

Baked or Roasted Namak/Sakkar Paare

A nice cup of adrak chai or thandai with sakkar or namk pare are all time favourite. You can replace refined flour with whole wheat or, multi grain flour. People opting for gluten free diet can use almond or coconut flour  but instead of deep frying them bake them on an over.  For sakkar pare replace refined sugar to gur or coconut sugar.

Fatfat Bhel

 

Springs are official;y the chat season. Utilize the humble murmara to whisk some bhel. Add loads of peanuts, almonds, lemon juice, pomegranate, sweet corn, sev and tangy chutney and viola, bhel’s ready.

Low calorie Thandai

Thandai are a must at holi. Just shift to skimmed milk, soy milk or almond milk and replace sugar with palm sugar or jaggery . Add some fruit pulp like strawberry to give that added twist to your beverage.
