Liver problems can occur with alcohol consumption, hepatitis viruses, poor diet, toxins among other reasons. The liver produces protein with the help of vitamin K which is very important in blood clotting. The liver cells also break down fats and produce energy in fat metabolism. Liver as such, plays a major role in all of the metabolic processes in the body.

Tamarind fruit, which has been a part of traditional healing techniques in Africa and Asia, is known to fight against almost all liver problems. Besides being able to detoxify your body, it can also eliminate the fat in your liver. In addition, it can also improve your digestion, protect the liver, lower the cholesterol, leaving your liver healthy.

Here is how you can use tamarind as a medicinal food:

  • Take a handful of peeled tamarind in a blender then add water as needed and mix it well. Now, strain the mixture and leave aside the liquid in a clean glass. Consume this beverage every day to fight fatty liver disease and hepatitis.
  • Another method is to make yourself a tamarind tea. Take peeled tamarinds in a pot and bring it to a boil for 15-20 minutes. Leave it to cool down. Add some honey and fresh juice of turmeric to see an improvement in your problems.

Since tamarind has a high concentration of unsaturated acids and fibre drinking this can help detoxify the body. The remedy also works to treat stomach bile disorders by purging the gallbladder. Drinking this will also allow the liver to process fats more effectively and become less inflamed.
