For people facing chronic kidney disease and is kept alive with the help of dialysis machines on the hospital beds will now be given freedom to move as fist sized artificial kidney will soon be available in the market.
The artificial Kidney is being engineered in the US which has to go through multiple safety and quality tests on hundreds of patients in the country before getting an approval by the FDA, University of California San Francisco researcher Dr Shuvo Roy, co-inventor of the device.
This device can be implanted in the abdomen and will be powered by heart is designed in such a manner that it will filter the blood and performs other functions of the kidney. This artificial kidney will help in producing hormones and control blood pressure."It performs the job of a kidney more holistically than just conventional dialysis," he said.
The end stage or in the other word the final stage of chronic kidney disease is a stage when a kidney is not at the stage of remove enough wastes and other fluid particles from the body. At this point of time patients with kidney chronic disease is kept on dialysis as a bridge to transplant.
