In a world’s first, a British woman is planning to become parent with her own grandchild.
The 59-year-old woman will be using her dead daughter’s eggs to become a mother again.
The lady’s daughter died of bowel cancer four years ago while still in her 20s, however, she chose to freeze her eggs in the hope to have children in future.
The mother thus is now hoping to export her daughter’s eggs to New York and get a fertility treatment worth £60,000.
The doctors believe that the lady’s chances to become pregnant again are very small. But, if the woman succeeds then the woman would be the first in the world to give birth to a baby using eggs from her dead daughter.
The case is already in a legal tangle as the Human Fertility and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has already refused to transport the frozen eggs to America.
They cite that the couple’s daughter did not give clear written consent. Now, the parents are gearing up to fight the case in the High Court.
