New Delhi:

Time to handover your resignation letters? Probably! If you dread waking up in the morning because of you having to walk in the door to your office. A new study published in the International Journal of Environment Research and Public Health suggests that you might be at a risk of giving yourself heart diseases if you hate your job. Researchers looked at 400,000 US workers and found that those who work in jobs where they don’t trust their bosses were more likely to smoke and have high blood pressure, diabetes, a poor diet, obesity, and high cholesterol.

This is because working in an environment where you are tied down with trust issues such as not having ‘understanding, fairness, and mutual respect between the supervisor and subordinate’ is more likely to experience risk factors for cardiovascular disease – the number one cause of death in the world.

The study on heart study suggest that the unhealthy factors result in stress relief, such as poor diet and smoking. Stress also has a major impact, leading to increased blood pressure (another risk factor for cardiovascular disease).

Cardiovascular disease when ignored can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and death.

So, yes if you dread your work boss or are in a ‘The Proposal’ boss kinda situation, it is best you pack up your things. After all, it is better safe than sorry!
